Shop Safety

UCLA Shop Safety Program

The UCLA EH&S Shop Safety Program is a multi-faceted program that aims to keep machine shops and technical areas safe. This program includes procedures for routine inspections, safety training, and consultations with EH&S Safety Specialists. The specific requirements are outlined in the UCLA Shop Safety Manual.

All campus machine shops and technical areas are required to effectuate safety policies and procedures as specified by the UCLA Shop Safety Program. Machine shops/technical areas may contain one or a combination of the following:

  • Machinery
  • Power Tools/Hand Tools
  • Chemicals
  • Robotics
  • Electrical Work/Circuit Building
  • Machinery or Equipment with Stored Energy Capabilities

If you are unsure whether your work area falls into this category, please contact EH&S for a consultation.
