2021 Controlled Substance Inspections
To ensure that researchers are prepared for unannounced Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) inspections, the Controlled Substances Program will be auditing researchers who have controlled substances in their inventory. These inspections will be conducted virtually over Zoom.
Researchers will be contacted one month prior to their scheduled inspection via email.
How to prepare for the inspection:
- Complete the following at least one week before the inspection:
- Look over their Controlled Substance Use Authorization (CSUA) Summary (provided via inspection email)
- Complete a questionnaire
- Send scans/photos of usage logs for opened controlled substances
What to expect during the inspection:
- PI, Primary, or Secondary should be present for the inspection
- Prepare to go over any changes to the CSUA Summary
- Audit of material and documents (We ask that you are nearby your storage location, your controlled substances, and usage logs)
